Linnéstaden around tree-lined Linnégatan is one of the city's liveliest quarters. The 19th-century stone houses, once a middle-class residential area, now house a dense scene of cafés, restaurants, bars and boutiques. For Gothenburgers, Linnégatan is a favourite spot to go out and enjoy a meal.
Långgatorna and the city park
Towards the harbour run the Långgatorna, streets lined with vintage shops, record stores, craft beer bars and an alternative vibe. In the other direction, the quarter borders directly on the large city park Slottsskogen and the Botanical Garden, so city life and nature sit close together.
A relaxed base
Linnéstaden is a good choice for anyone who wants to stay central but a bit more relaxed and local than around the Avenyn, with a short walk to Haga, the city centre and the park.
